Dance & Gymnastics Recital
Enrolling a child in dance/gymnastics has a positive outcome in various elements of their lives. All children enrolled in the program will gain a better understanding of dance/gymnastics technique though movement, coordination, strength, balance, and flexibility exercises. Children will learn basic life skills, improve mental and physical health, learn about leadership and being a team player; all while gaining confidence, independence, and socialization skills along the way.
Shining Stars is recommended for dancers and gymnasts ages 2.5-4 years old
Rising Stars is recommended for dancers and gymnasts ages 5-6 years old
All Stars is recommended for dancers and gymnasts ages 7+ years and older.
Recital: This season, we will curate an end of year recital for each class. Students will focus of technique and knowledge of each style in class. However they will also be working on an end of year recital routine for family, friends, and loved ones to come watch. The recital will be held in late spring with specific date and location information TBA.
*There is no drop/add cut off date to participate in our programs.
Pricing: Pricing is based on a reoccurring automatic monthly installments, billed on the 1st of the month. Classes are weekly from the week of September 7th through the Spring Recital. Membership means more at the Y. Not only will GVYMCA members receive special member pricing, they will also receive discounted pricing for each additional recital program that they are signed up to participate in. *Financial Assistance is available for those that qualify

Additional Performance Opportunities: We know that you want to see your dancers and gymnasts shine. This recital season you will have more opportunities than just the recital to see how your star is doing.
Holiday Showcase: Family and friends will be able to come into the studio and see a holiday routine that their dancers/gymnasts have been working on. The holiday showcase will be followed by a small holiday celebration for the kids.
Holiday showcase week – Week of December 13th during your regularly scheduled class.
Parent Observation: 2 grown ups per child will be permitted to come in an observe a regularly scheduled class. Dancers will go about their class as usual. An exciting way to see what your child has been up to, and get a sneak peek of recital routines!
Parent observation week – Week of April 4th during your regularly scheduled class.
Monthly Themes/Handouts: A newsletter will be distributed the first class of each month with all there is to look forward to that month. A different themed week such as pajama week, prince/princess week, and so on! This will include all important dates and reminders.
Attire: Dancers and gymnasts can come to class in whatever they feel most comfortable and confident to move in. Leotards and tights are equally as acceptable and a tank top and shorts. We want each child to feel confident in themselves so they can get the most out of class.
Ballet – pink ballet shoes
Tap – black tap shoes
Jazz – tan slip on jazz shoe
Hip Hop – any type of sneaker
Gymnastics, Music and Me – barefoot
*All shoes can be purchased directly through Amazon or Target.
No specific brand or style is needed.
Safety: Safety is a number our number one in class priority. Dancers will be taught the proper way to go about technique in both dance and gymnastics to provide a foundation for dance and overall health. For the safety of all dancers and gymnasts, Slate Belt YMCA has professional grade sprung flooring in their dance studio.
